Este espaço surge no âmbito de um projeto de investigação em curso de Maria José Brites sobre Jovens, Participação e Literacia e jornalismo (ANLite: Audiências, Notícias e Literacia, financiado (2014-2017) pela Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia, SFRH/BPD/92204/2013; CECS-UMinho). Além da divulgação de atividades e informações mais diretamente ligadas a este projeto, pretende-se ainda que aqui possam congregar-se investigações, investigadores e diferentes projetos e parceiros da sociedade civil que atuem nestas áreas.

| This space appears within the scope of an ongoing research conducted by Maria José Brites on Youth, Participation and Literacy and journalism (ANLite: Audiences, News and Literacy, funded (2014-2017) by the Portuguese Funding Agency for Science, SFRH/BPD/92204/2013; CECS-UMinho). Apart from the promotion of activities and information more closely related to this project, the aim is also to collect research, researchers outputs and different projects and partners from civil society that act on these areas.

Maria José Brites é Professora Auxiliar na ULP – Universidade Lusófona do Porto e investigadora integrada do CICANT. É a coordenadora portuguesa do projeto Media In Action – MIA (LC-00644630; http://mediainaction.eu). Foi coordenadora em Portugal (2013-2014) do projeto RadioActive Europe (531245-LLP-1-2012-1-UK-KA3-KA3). É membro de três ações Cost (COST IS1401 European Literacy Network, COST IS1410 DigitLitEY e CA15212: Citizen Science to promote creativity, scientific literacy, and innovation throughout Europe) e de dois projetos europeus (News as Democratic Resources: Cross Cultural Comparative Research e Young children’s digital literacy and multimodal practices). Concluiu o doutoramento em Ciências da Comunicação (2013), na Faculdade de Ciências Sociais e Humanas da Universidade Nova de Lisboa. Foi investigadora integrada do CECS – Centro de Estudos de Comunicação e Sociedade, na Universidade do Minho, onde realizou pós-doutoramento em Ciências da Comunicação (SFRH/BPD/92204/2013). Os interesses de pesquisa incluem áreas como os estudos da juventude, jornalismo e participação, estudos de audiências, literacia para as notícias e literacia cívica.

| Maria José Brites is Assistant professor at the Lusófona University of Porto (ULP) and researcher at Centre for Research in Applied Communication, Culture, and New Technologies (CICANT). She is the Portuguese coordinator of the European project Media In Action – MIA (LC-00644630; http://mediainaction.eu). She had coordinated (in Portugal) the RadioActive project (531245-LLP-1-2012-1-UK-KA3-KA3). She is a member of three research networks (COST IS1401 European Literacy Network – where she coordinates the Digital Literacy Team, COST IS1410 DigitLitEY, and CA15212: Citizen Science to promote creativity, scientific literacy, and innovation throughout Europe) and of two projects (News as Democratic Resources: Cross Cultural Comparative Research and Young children’s digital literacy and multimodal practices). She concluded her PhD in Communication Sciences (2013) in the NOVA University of Lisbon and a post-doc (2014-2017) at the Communication and Society Research Centre (CECS/UMinho), both with grants from the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology. Her research interests include issues such as Participatory methodologies, Youth, journalism and participation, Audience studies and News and civic literacy. She started the blog https://anlitemedia.com as a way to track these issues. She has worked as a journalist in several newspapers and magazines in Portugal (press card 3182).
